The database standard proposed by ANSI SPARK in 1975 is used worldwide and is the single most popular agreed-upon standard for database systems. 3 levels architecture allows us to separate the physical representation of data from user views of data. In a database, the same data is stored in a specific executable format and is available to different users in different formats according to the wishes of different users. For example, we believe that we have stored the DOB (Date of Birth) in the database in a particular format, such as dd-mm-yyyy (for example, 28-03-1987).
However, users from different departments may require to display the date of birth in different forms; examination department may ask to display as month-day-yyyy (as March-28-1987) the registry office may request to display the date of birth as mm/dd/yyyy, however the library may need it in dd/mm/yy format.
