There are 38 countries in which the programme is currently operational. Each country has its own eligibility criteria. Applicants must have a nationality, be employed at the time of application, and be fluent in the language of the programme they wish to study.

The program is aimed at fostering skill development and capacity building within organisations. In particular, it promotes performance growth.

An OKP Scholarship offers full funding for a master’s programme. This covers tuition fees, living expenses and travel. For those who qualify, the allowance also contributes to the costs of a thesis research. However, it is important to remember that you are expected to cover the difference between the cost of the scholarship and the actual costs of your study.

To apply, you must be a citizen of one of the participating OKP countries. Your employer must also support your application.

The first step is to find out about the various OKP programmes. You can learn more about them on the official website. Once you have found the programme you would like to take, you need to decide on a course. These courses can range from twelve to 365 days.

When you have selected your course, you can start preparing your application. The process may take some time. Usually, you will be contacted by your chosen education institution. They will send you a web-form to fill out.

Those who want to study a master’s degree must already have a bachelor’s degree.

Both scholarship options are offered through competitive selection processes. Scholarships are awarded to highly motivated professionals. They are awarded on the basis of priority areas set by the Dutch Ministry of Foreign Affairs. These priorities include environmental issues, food and nutrition security, climate change, security and rule of law, sexual and reproductive health and rights, and sustainable development.

The scholarship is fully funded. In addition to covering tuition fees, the scholarship includes travel costs, insurance, and visas. However, the applicant is required to cover the difference between the actual cost and the scholarship. For example, if a student has to pay EUR 5,000 for the Master’s programme, he or she should cover EUR 1,000.

A master’s programme must be accredited. Moreover, the duration of the programme should be at least 12 months. However, institutions that offer longer programmes can participate with co-finance.
