The Leiden University Excellence Scholarship Program abbreviated as (LExS) opened to outstanding non-EEA/non-EFTA students enrolling in a full-time master degree program at Leiden University.
Host Institution(s): Leiden University in The Netherlands.
Level/Field of study: All fulltime Masters program is available at Leiden University with the exception of LLM such as (non-advanced) and MSc program at Leiden Law School.
Number of Awards: The number and type of awards of the scholarship by the University is offering depends on the budget available for each Faculty department.
Target group: Non-EEA/non-EFTA* nationals (see details below)
There are three (3 awards)at the Leiden University Excellence Scholarship program:
- € 10.000 of the tuition fee
- € 15.000 of the tuition fee
- Total tuition fee minusthe statutory tuition fee
The LExS is not a full scholarship. There is a condition for Non-EEA LExS recipients of must submitting proof of sufficient funds for their student visa/residence permit application.
Students or applicants must have achieved excellent study results in their previous education qualification, this being relevant to the Master program for which they are applying at the university for this scholarship. As an indication, Applicant must ranks amongst the top 10% of graduates in his/her previous study program. Note: But in this process proof of ranking is not required – this information is purely to indicate the level of competitiveness.
Applicants must have a non non-EEA/non-EFTA* passport and may not be eligible for support under the Dutch system of study grants and loans (Studiefinanciering) – with the exception of students who are applying for the LLM Advanced Study program or the MSc in International Relations and Diplomacy, for which no nationality restrictions apply.
All EU countries included Iceland, Liechtenstein, Norway and Switzerland.
First of all candidate must apply online for admissions to a Master’s program at Leiden University. In application, candidate must indicate clearly that he would like to apply for the LExS scholarship on the scholarship section and upload your letter of motivation for the LExS scholarship. The deadline for program starting in September is 1 February (exception – Advanced LLMs: 1 March) while program starting in February has a deadline of 1 October.
